A Message From The Chair
Dear Applicant
Thank you for your interest in Warwickshire Property & Development Group (WPDG). We are a young company that has come a long way in just two and a half years. We have successfully moved through our start-up phase and now have a strong portfolio of sites as well as funding to deliver.
We recently completed our first commercial scheme, Sucham Park in Southam, a new industrial development with the potential to create around 100 jobs, and are also moving at pace with our residential schemes. This is headlined by the creation of Develop Warwickshire, a joint venture between WPDG, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and leading developer Countryside Partnerships which includes a 1700 home development with 25% affordable housing at Top Farm near Nuneaton.
WPDG is wholly owned by WCC. Our Board Members play a crucial relationship role working alongside the Council’s Officers and Councillors. The focus on effective relationships has been an important part of our success.
Currently, the WPDG Board is made up of six members: a Non-Executive Chair, three Non-Executive Directors, and the Managing Director and Finance Director from WPDG. One of the three Non-Executive Directors is a director of our shareholder, WCC.
We are putting in place a structured programme of succession planning to ensure that our Board continues to attract and develop the right people, with the right blend of skills and experience to continue to advise, support and challenge WPDG as it grows and develops.
The first phase of the succession planning will see myself stepping down as Non-Executive Chair from July and from the Board at the end of the year. We are looking to appoint a Non- Executive Director to take my place on the Board with the potential to be considered as Chair. A further two appointments to the Board will then be scheduled for 2025 and 2026.
We have developed a cohesive and collegiate team, with a strong working relationship between the Board and the Officers. We work closely and visibly together and are looking for a Board Member who will share this commitment to collaborative endeavour. The composition and development of our Board is a critical factor in our success.
We recently undertook a skills audit for the Board which concluded we have a broad mix of relevant skills, experience, and expertise across the Board. We are keen to maintain this broad skillset and although we would wish to consider candidates with a development background, given the broad remit of our Group’s activity our Board would additionally benefit from individuals whose development credentials are further enhanced by experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: social investment, health and safety, environmental sustainability, asset management and treasury management. We are equally keen to ensure that we continue to consider and factor in the levels of diversity on our Board.
WPDG is already delivering on its potential to make a huge difference to Warwickshire’s economy.
If you would be interested in joining this exciting team. Please contact our advisors at Tile Hill to talk about the contribution you could make.
Kind regards
